Meaning & Translation

Verse 0
Hail Lord Ganapati, the abode of virtues, benevolent one with the face of a poet. Destroyer of obstacles, bestower of auspiciousness, all glory to the son of Girija (Parvati).
Verse 1
All glory, all glory, all glory to King Ganapati! You fill us with auspiciousness and accomplish all good deeds.
Verse 2
Hail, elephant-faced one, the abode of happiness. O Universal Lord (Vinayaka), bestower of intellect!
Verse 3
You possess a curved trunk, pure and beautiful. The three-lined mark (Tilak Tripund) on your forehead is pleasing to the mind.
Verse 4
Adorned with a garland of gems and pearls on your chest. You wear a golden crown on your head, and your eyes are vast.
Verse 5
In your hands, you hold a book, an axe, and a trident. You partake in Modak and fragrant flowers.
Verse 6
Your body is adorned with beautiful yellow garments. And a glorious white umbrella graces you.
Verse 7
Son of Shiva, born of Parvati. O Lord Ganapati, you are a great giver of happiness.
Verse 8
You are the first to be worshipped among all gods, O Lord. There is no other Lord equal to you.

O Ekadanta (one-tusked), very charming and wise. Riding on a mouse, glory, glory to the Lord of Ganas!

When you came to Rama's abode. You displayed all your infinite divine sports.

You awakened Lakshmana's power. And then destroyed Ravana's army.

O Lambodara (pot-bellied), with a very beautiful face. You are the auspicious form, pleasing to all minds.

Whoever sings your name. Attains happiness and wealth in all three worlds.

Giver of eight Siddhis and nine Nidhis. You remove sorrow, poverty, and troubles swiftly.

Lord who removes obstacles and brings auspiciousness. You are omniscient and the inner dweller.

Riddhi and Siddhi (prosperity and spiritual powers) are your servants. You are the destroyer of all obstacles in life.

You are my Mother and Father, my Lord. Without you, I have no desire.

You are the God of all virtues and knowledge. You are the God of all intellect and honor.

You are the eternal, indestructible form of Brahman. You reside in all three worlds.

Son of Shiva, beloved of Bhavani. Lord of the Ganas, mine of virtues and knowledge.
