Meaning & Translation
Verse 0
With the dust of the lotus feet of Sri Guru, I cleanse the mirror of my mind. I then narrate the pure glory of Lord Rama, which bestows the four fruits of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha).

Knowing myself to be ignorant, I meditate on Pavan-kumar (Hanuman). Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove my afflictions and impurities.
Verse 1
Victory to Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtues. Victory to the Lord of Monkeys, who illuminates the three worlds.
Verse 2
You are Rama's messenger, abode of incomparable strength. You are known as Anjani's son and the son of the wind god.
Verse 3
O Great Hero, courageous and strong as Vajra (thunderbolt). You are the dispeller of evil thoughts and companion of good sense.
Verse 4
Of golden complexion, adorned in fine clothes. With earrings in your ears and curly hair.
Verse 5
In your hands, a thunderbolt and a banner shine. A sacred thread (janeu) made of Moonj grass adorns your shoulder.
Verse 6
Son of Shiva (incarnation), delight of Kesari. Your valor and glory are revered throughout the world.
Verse 7
You are learned, virtuous, and extremely clever. You are always eager to do Lord Rama's work.
Verse 8
You delight in listening to the glories of the Lord. Rama, Lakshman, and Sita dwell in your heart.
Verse 9
Assuming a tiny form, you appeared before Sita. Taking a formidable form, you burned Lanka.
Verse 10
Assuming a gigantic form, you destroyed demons. Thus, you accomplished Lord Rama's tasks.
Verse 11
You brought the Sanjeevani herb and revived Lakshman. Lord Rama embraced you joyfully.
Verse 12
Lord Rama praised you highly, saying, 'You are as dear to me as my brother Bharat.'
Verse 13
Even the thousand-headed Sheshnag sings your glory. Saying this, Lord Rama embraced you.
Verse 14
Sages like Sanaka and Brahma, great hermits. Narada, Saraswati, and the king of serpents (Sheshnag).
Verse 15
Yama (god of death), Kubera (god of wealth), and the guardians of directions – none can describe your glory.
Verse 16
You rendered great service to Sugreeva. By uniting him with Rama, you helped him regain his kingdom.
Verse 17
Vibhishan followed your counsel. He became the king of Lanka, as the whole world knows.
Verse 18
You swallowed the sun, which is thousands of Yojanas away, mistaking it for a sweet fruit.
Verse 19
With Lord Rama's ring in your mouth, you crossed the ocean – there is no wonder in that.
Verse 20
All the difficult tasks in the world become easy through your grace.
Verse 21
You are the guardian at Rama's door. No one can enter without your permission.
Verse 22
All happiness is found in your refuge. When you are the protector, there is no fear.
Verse 23
Only you can control your own splendor. All three worlds tremble at your roar.
Verse 24
Ghosts and evil spirits dare not come near. When the name of Mahavir (Hanuman) is uttered.
Verse 25
All diseases vanish and all pains disappear. By continuous recitation of brave Hanuman's name.
Verse 26
Hanuman liberates from all troubles. Those who meditate on him with mind, deed, and word.
Verse 27
Lord Rama is the supreme ascetic king over all. You accomplished all his tasks.
Verse 28
And whoever comes with any desire. They attain the immeasurable fruit of life.
Verse 29
Your glory extends through all four ages (Yugas). Your fame illuminates the whole world.
Verse 30
You are the guardian of saints and sages. Destroyer of demons, beloved of Rama.
Verse 31
You are the bestower of eight Siddhis (powers) and nine Nidhis (treasures). Mother Janaki (Sita) granted you this boon.
Verse 32
You hold the elixir of Rama's name. You always remain a servant of Lord Rama.
Verse 33
Your devotion pleases Lord Rama. It makes one forget the sorrows of many lifetimes.
Verse 34
At the end of life, one goes to the abode of Lord Rama. And is known as a devotee of Hari (God) wherever born.
Verse 35
No need to contemplate any other deity. By serving Hanuman, all happiness is attained.
Verse 36
All troubles are cut and all pains eradicated. For those who remember the mighty Hanuman.
Verse 37
Victory, victory, victory to Lord Hanuman! Bestow your grace as a divine Guru.
Verse 38
Whoever recites this a hundred times. Is freed from bondage and attains great joy.
Verse 39
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa. Attains perfection, with Lord Shiva (Gaurisa) as witness.
Verse 40
Tulsidas is always a devotee of Hari. O Lord, make your abode in my heart.
Verse 41
O Son of the Wind, remover of distress, embodiment of auspiciousness. Dwell in my heart along with Rama, Lakshman, and Sita, O King of Gods.
