O Grandfather (Brahma), please tell me that most secret and supreme protection for humans in this world,

Which has not been revealed to anyone before.

Brahma said:

O Brahmana, there is a most secret and beneficial Kavach for all beings,
Verse 7
The sacred Kavach of the Devi, listen to it, O great sage.
Verse 8
First is Shailaputri, second is Brahmacharini,
Verse 9
Third is Chandraghanta, and fourth is Kushmanda.
Verse 10
Fifth is Skandamata, and sixth is Katyayani,
Verse 11
Seventh is Kalaratri, and eighth is Mahagauri.
Verse 12
Ninth is Siddhidatri; these are the nine Durgas proclaimed.
Verse 13
These names have been uttered by the great-souled Brahma himself.

One who is being burnt by fire, or surrounded by enemies in battle,

Or in a difficult, inaccessible place, afflicted by fear, takes refuge in Her,

No misfortune befalls them in battle or crisis.

No hindrance occurs to them, neither in battle nor in distress.

They have no fear anywhere and are protected from all sides.

Chamunda rides on a corpse, Varahi sits on a buffalo,

Indrani rides on an elephant, Vaishnavi on Garuda.

Maheshwari rides on a bull, Kaumari on a peacock.

Lakshmi, the goddess seated on a lotus, holding a lotus in her hand, beloved of Hari.

The goddess who assumes a white form, Ishwari, rides on a bull.

Brahmani rides on a swan, adorned with all ornaments.

Thus, all these Mothers are endowed with all yogic powers.

Adorned with various ornaments, resplendent with various jewels.

The goddesses are seen mounted on chariots, filled with wrath.

Conch, discus, mace, spear, plough, and pestle as weapons,

Shield, javelin, axe, and noose as well.

The excellent weapon Kunti, and the supreme trident and Sharnga bow.

For the destruction of the bodies of demons and for the fearlessness of devotees,
