Meaning & Translation

Verse 1
I bow to that Vinayaka, who holds Modaka in his hand, who always grants liberation, whose forehead is adorned with the crescent moon, who protects the joyful world, who is the sole leader without a superior, who destroyed the elephant demon, and who swiftly destroys the inauspiciousness of those who bow to him.
Verse 2
I bow to that Vinayaka, who frightens hostile enemies, who shines like the newly risen sun, to whom bowing gods and demons worship, who lifts those bowed from great calamities, who is the lord of gods, lord of treasures, lord of Ganas, who is eternal, and the everlasting lord.
Verse 3
I bow to that Vinayaka, who brings welfare to all worlds, who destroyed the elephant-faced demon, whose stomach is large and auspicious, whose elephant face is supreme and imperishable. He is the giver of compassion, forgiveness, joy, fame, and is worshiped by all.
Verse 4
I bow to that Vinayaka, who wipes away the sorrows of the poor, who is the abode of ancient wisdom, the elder son of Shiva (destroyer of Pura), who crushes the pride of demons. He is fearsome in destroying worldly illusions, adorned by Dhananjaya (Arjuna) and others, and whose temples flow with ichor.

I constantly meditate on that unique one-tusked Lord, whose tusk is supremely beautiful and luminous, who is the son of Parvati, whose form is inconceivable and endless, who cuts through all obstacles, and who forever dwells in the hearts of Yogis.
