Meaning & Translation

Verse 1
I bow to Vishnu, who is peaceful in form, reposes on the serpent, has a lotus in His navel, is the Lord of the Devas, the support of the universe, all-pervading like the sky, dark like the clouds, with beautiful limbs. He is the consort of Lakshmi, with lotus eyes, attainable by Yogis through meditation, the remover of the fear of worldly existence, and the sole Lord of all worlds.
Verse 2
Om, I bow to Lord Vasudeva, the indwelling Supersoul, the son of Vasudeva (Lord Krishna).
Verse 3
Auspicious is Lord Vishnu. Auspicious is He whose banner bears Garuda. Auspicious is He whose eyes are like lotuses. Auspicious is Hari, who is the abode of all auspiciousness.
Verse 4
Om, let us meditate on Narayana. Let us contemplate on Vasudeva. May that Vishnu inspire and enlighten us.
Verse 5
Whatever letters are missing or misplaced, or devoid of proper meter during this recitation, may all that be forgiven, O Lord Narayana, I bow to You.
