Meaning & Translation

Verse 1
O Lord, Pasupati, Ocean of Compassion! Please accept this worship conceived in my heart: A jeweled throne, a bath with cool waters, divine garments adorned with various gems, sandalwood paste scented with musk, jasmine, champaka, and bilva leaves, flowers, incense, and a lamp.
Verse 2
O Lord, please accept these offerings mentally prepared with devotion: A vessel made of gold and adorned with nine gems, ghee, kheer (sweet rice pudding), five kinds of food, milk, yogurt, banana fruit, sweet drinks, various vegetables, and betel leaves with various tastes.
Verse 3
O Almighty Lord, please accept this worship offered by my resolve: An umbrella, a pair of whisks (chāmara), a fan, a clean mirror, the arts of veena, drum (bheri, mridanga), kahala (a type of trumpet), songs, and dance. Also, my prostrations with eight limbs and various hymns of praise, all of these I offer to you through my resolve.
Verse 4
O Shambhu! You are my Self, Girija (Parvati) is my intellect. My life breaths are your companions, my body is your temple. My enjoyment of worldly pleasures is your worship, my sleep is a state of samadhi (meditative absorption). My walking is circumambulation of you, all my words are your praises. Whatever action I perform, all of it is an act of worship to you.
Verse 5
O glorious Mahadeva, Shambhu, Ocean of Compassion! Forgive all my offenses, whether committed by hand or foot, by speech or body, by action, by ear or eye, or mentally. Forgive all that has been done, whether permitted or not permitted. Victory, victory to you!
