పశ్చాత్తాపముతో రాజకుమార్తె తిరిగి తన తల్లి ఇంటికి వెళ్లి, ఆమె తల్లి సలహా మేరకు వినాయక వ్రతమును భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో ఆచరించెను. ఆమె వ్రతమును పూర్తిచేయగానే, ఆమె భర్తకు యుద్ధములో విజయము లభించెను, రాజ్యమునకు తిరిగి శాంతి సౌభాగ్యములు వచ్చెను.

Verse 1
Once, a poor but pious Brahmin woman devoutly performed the Vinayaka Vrat at her home. As she had no children, she constantly meditated on Lord Vinayaka. Pleased with her devotion, Vinayaka appeared before her and blessed her that all good fortune would befall her.
Verse 2
With Vinayaka's blessings, she gradually attained wealth, fame, and offspring. She became very prosperous and lived happily. She explained the importance of Vinayaka Vrat to her children and made them perform the Vrat as well.
Verse 3
Later, the Brahmin woman's daughter married a king's son. One time, she forgot to perform the Vinayaka Vrat at her in-laws' house. Because she did not observe Vinayaka's Vrat, many difficulties befell her.
Verse 4
Calamities struck the king, queen, and their kingdom. The prince lost in battle, and the entire kingdom was plunged into turmoil. The princess realized that the cause of these troubles was her forgetting to perform the Vinayaka Vrat.
Verse 5
With repentance, the princess returned to her mother's house and, as per her mother's advice, performed the Vinayaka Vrat with utmost devotion. As soon as she completed the Vrat, her husband achieved victory in battle, and peace and prosperity returned to the kingdom.
Verse 6
Through this incident, the princess, the king, and the queen came to know the glory of Vinayaka Vrat. From then on, they unfailingly performed this Vrat every year on Vinayaka Chaturthi. Lord Vinayaka bestows all good fortunes upon those who observe this Vrat with devotion.
Verse 7
The Puranas state that those who worship Lord Ganesha on Vinayaka Chaturthi and listen to or read this Vrat Katha will attain eight kinds of wealth, all happiness, and long life and health. Obstacles are removed, and success is achieved.
