ଜୟ ହନୁମାନ ଜ୍ଞାନ ଗୁଣ ସାଗର । ଜୟ କପୀଶ ତିହୁଁ ଲୋକ ଉଜାଗର ॥୧॥

Meaning & Translation

Verse 1
Cleaning the mirror of my mind with the dust of my Guru's lotus feet. I describe the pure glory of Lord Rama, who bestows the four fruits of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha).
Verse 2
Knowing this body to be devoid of intelligence, I meditate on Pavan Kumar (Hanuman). Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove my afflictions and impurities.
Verse 3
Victory to Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtues. Victory to the Lord of Monkeys, who illuminates the three worlds.
Verse 4
You are Rama's messenger, abode of incomparable strength. Son of Anjani, known as Pavanputra (son of the wind god).
Verse 5
Great hero, mighty as a thunderbolt (Vajrangi). You dispel evil thoughts and are a companion of good sense.
Verse 6
Your complexion is golden, and you are adorned in beautiful attire. You wear earrings, and your hair is curly.
Verse 7
In your hands, a mace (Vajra) and banner shine. A sacred thread (Janeu) adorns your shoulder.
Verse 8
Son of Shankar (an incarnation of Shiva), delight of Kesari. Your splendor and great majesty are revered by the whole world.
Verse 9
You are learned, virtuous, and extremely clever. You are always eager to accomplish Lord Rama's tasks.
Verse 10
You delight in listening to the Lord's deeds. Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita reside in your heart.
Verse 11
Assuming a tiny form, you appeared before Sita. Taking a terrifying form, you burnt Lanka.
Verse 12
Assuming a colossal form, you destroyed the demons. Thus, you accomplished Lord Rama's tasks.
Verse 13
Bringing the Sanjeevani herb, you revived Lakshmana. Lord Rama joyfully embraced you.
Verse 14
Lord Rama highly praised you. Saying, 'You are as dear to me as my brother Bharat.'
Verse 15
Thousands of mouths sing your glory. Saying this, Lord Rama embraced you.
Verse 16
Sanaka and other sages, Brahma and other deities, Narada, Saraswati, and Sheshnag (king of serpents).
Verse 17
Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of the directions, where can poets and scholars describe your glory adequately?
Verse 18
You rendered great service to Sugriva. You united him with Rama and helped him regain his kingdom.
Verse 19
Vibhishana heeded your counsel. And became the Lord of Lanka, as the whole world knows.
Verse 20
The sun, which is thousands of Yojanas away. You swallowed it, mistaking it for a sweet fruit.
Verse 21
Carrying Lord Rama's ring in your mouth. It's no wonder that you leapt across the ocean.
Verse 22
All the difficult tasks in the world. Become easy with your grace.
Verse 23
You are the guardian at Rama's door. No one can enter without your permission.
Verse 24
All happiness is found in your refuge. When you are the protector, what is there to fear?
Verse 25
Only you can control your own splendor. All three worlds tremble at your roar.
Verse 26
Ghosts and evil spirits dare not come near. When the name of Mahaveer is chanted.
Verse 27
All diseases vanish, all pains disappear. By continuously chanting the name of brave Hanuman.
Verse 28
Hanuman rescues from all troubles. Those who meditate on him with mind, deed, and word.
Verse 29
Lord Rama is the king of ascetics over all. You accomplished all his tasks.
Verse 30
And whoever brings any desire to you. That person attains the infinite fruit of life.
Verse 31
Your glory extends through all four ages. Your fame illuminates the entire world.
Verse 32
You are the protector of saints and sages. Destroyer of demons, beloved of Rama.
Verse 33
You are the bestower of eight Siddhis (supernatural powers) and nine Nidhis (treasures). Mother Janaki (Sita) granted you this boon.
Verse 34
You hold the divine elixir of Rama's name. And forever remain the servant of Lord Rama.
Verse 35
By chanting your name, one reaches Rama. And forgets the sorrows of many births.
Verse 36
At the end of life, one goes to the abode of Lord Rama. And is known as a devotee of Hari wherever reborn.
Verse 37
No other deity needs to be remembered. By serving Hanuman, all happiness is attained.
Verse 38
All troubles are cut, all pains are erased. For those who remember the mighty Hanuman.
Verse 39
Victory, victory, victory to Lord Hanuman! Bestow your grace upon me like a divine Guru.
Verse 40
Whoever recites this a hundred times. Is freed from bondage and attains great joy.
Verse 41
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa. Attains perfection, with Shiva as the witness.
Verse 42
Tulsidas is always a devotee of Lord Hari. Oh Lord, make my heart your abode.
Verse 43
O son of the Wind God, remover of all troubles, embodiment of auspiciousness. Along with Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita, reside in my heart, O King of Gods.
