श्रीगुरु चरण सरोज रज, निज मन मुकुर सुधारि। बरनउँ रघुबर बिमल जसु, जो दायक फल चारि।।

बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौं पवन-कुमार। बल बुद्धि विद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेश विकार।।

जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुन सागर। जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर।।

राम दूत अतुलित बल धामा। अंजनि पुत्र पवनसुत नामा।।

Meaning & Translation

Verse 1
With the dust of the lotus feet of my Guru, I clean the mirror of my mind. I then narrate the pure glory of Lord Rama, which bestows the four fruits of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha).
Verse 2
Knowing myself to be devoid of intelligence, I remember you, O Son of the Wind. Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove all my sorrows and imperfections.
Verse 3
Victory to Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtues. Victory to the Lord of Monkeys, who illuminates the three worlds.
Verse 4
O messenger of Rama, you are the abode of incomparable strength. You are known as Anjani's son and the son of the Wind God.
Verse 5
O great hero, valiant like Vajra (thunderbolt), you dispel evil thoughts and are a companion of good sense.
Verse 6
You are adorned in golden complexion, with beautiful attire. With earrings in your ears and curly hair.
Verse 7
In your hands shine the mace (Vajra) and the flag. A sacred thread (Janeu) made of Munja grass adorns your shoulder.
Verse 8
An incarnation of Shiva, son of Kesari. Your valor and glory are revered throughout the world.
Verse 9
You are learned, virtuous, and extremely clever. You are always eager to accomplish Lord Rama's tasks.
Verse 10
You are delighted to hear the narratives of the Lord. Rama, Lakshman, and Sita dwell in your heart.
Verse 11
You assumed a tiny form to appear before Sita. And by taking a formidable form, you set Lanka ablaze.
Verse 12
Assuming a gigantic form, you slew the demons. Thus, you accomplished Lord Rama's mission.
Verse 13
You brought the Sanjeevani herb and revived Lakshmana. Lord Rama embraced you joyfully.
Verse 14
Lord Rama praised you highly, saying, 'You are as dear to me as my brother Bharata.'
Verse 15
Even the thousand-mouthed Sheshnaga sings your glories, saying this, Lord Rama embraced you.
Verse 16
Sages like Sanaka, Brahma, great ascetics, Narada, Saraswati, along with Sheshnaga (king of serpents).
Verse 17
Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of directions – even poets and scholars cannot describe your glory.
Verse 18
You rendered great service to Sugriva. By uniting him with Rama, you helped him regain his kingdom.
Verse 19
Vibhishana heeded your counsel. The whole world knows he became the king of Lanka.
Verse 20
Though the sun is thousands of Yojanas away, you swallowed it, thinking it a sweet fruit.
Verse 21
With Lord Rama's ring in your mouth, you crossed the ocean – there is no wonder in that.
Verse 22
All the difficult tasks in the world become easy through your grace.
Verse 23
You are the guardian at Rama's door. No one can enter without your permission.
Verse 24
All joys are found by taking refuge in you. With you as the protector, there is no fear.
Verse 25
You alone can control your mighty splendor. All three worlds tremble at your roar.
Verse 26
Ghosts and evil spirits dare not come near, when the name of the great hero (Hanuman) is uttered.
Verse 27
All diseases vanish and all pains disappear, by continuously chanting the name of brave Hanuman.
Verse 28
Hanuman liberates from all troubles, those who meditate upon him with mind, action, and words.
Verse 29
Lord Rama is the ascetic king over all. You accomplished all his tasks.
Verse 30
And whoever brings any desire to you, that person obtains the boundless fruit of life.
Verse 31
Your glory extends through all four ages. Your fame illuminates the entire world.
Verse 32
You are the protector of saints and sages. Destroyer of demons, beloved of Rama.
Verse 33
You are the bestower of eight Siddhis (supernatural powers) and nine Nidhis (treasures). Mother Janaki (Sita) granted you this boon.
Verse 34
The elixir of Rama's devotion is with you. You remain forever the servant of Lord Rama.
Verse 35
Through devotion to you, one attains Rama. And forgets the sorrows of many lifetimes.
Verse 36
At the time of death, one goes to the abode of Lord Rama. And where one takes birth, they are known as a devotee of God.
Verse 37
One need not invoke any other deity. Serving Hanuman brings all happiness.
Verse 38
All troubles vanish and all pains are removed, for those who remember the mighty Hanuman.
Verse 39
Victory, victory, victory to Lord Hanuman! Shower your grace upon us, as a revered Guru.
Verse 40
Whoever recites this a hundred times. Is freed from bondage and attains great joy.
Verse 41
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa. Attains perfection, with Shiva (Gaurisa) as witness.
Verse 42
Tulsidas is always a devotee of the Lord. O Lord, make my heart your abode.
Verse 43
O Son of the Wind, remover of distress, embodiment of auspiciousness. May you dwell in my heart, along with Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita, O King of Gods.
