सन्नद्धः कवची खड्गी चापबाणधरो युवा । गच्छन् मनोरथान नश्च रामः पातु सलक्ष्मणः ॥21॥

Meaning & Translation

Verse 1
By which the great powerful demon king Bali was bound, by that I bind you, O Raksha (protection), do not waver, do not waver.
Verse 2
Meditate on Ramachandra, whose arms extend to his knees, who holds a bow and arrow, who is seated in the lotus posture, who wears yellow garments, whose eyes rival the fresh lotus petals, who is serene, whose gaze is fixed on Sita's lotus-like face seated on his left lap, who is dark-complexioned like a fresh cloud, adorned with various ornaments, and whose head is crowned with a large matted lock.
Verse 3
The glorious deeds of Lord Rama (Raghunatha) are spread over a hundred crores (of verses). Each and every syllable of His name destroys the greatest sins of mankind.
Verse 4
Mediate on Rama, who is dark-complexioned like a blue lotus, whose eyes are like lotus petals, who is accompanied by Janaki (Sita) and Lakshmana, and who is adorned with a crown of matted hair.
Verse 5
He holds a sword, quiver, bow, and arrows in His hands, the destroyer of night-wanderers (demons). He is the unborn, omnipresent Lord, who appeared by His own divine play to protect the world.
Verse 6
The wise person should recite this Ramaraksha Stotram, which destroys sins and grants all desires. May Raghava protect my head, and Dasharatha's son (Rama) protect my forehead.

May Kausalya's son (Rama) protect my eyes, and Vishwamitra's beloved protect my ears. May the protector of sacrifices (Rama) protect my nose, and the beloved of Sumitra's son (Lakshmana) protect my mouth.

May the ocean of knowledge (Rama) protect my tongue, and He who is worshipped by Bharata protect my throat. May He who wields divine weapons protect my shoulders, and He who broke Shiva's bow protect my arms.
Verse 9
May the husband of Sita protect my hands, and He who conquered Jamadagni's son (Parashurama) protect my heart. May the destroyer of Khara protect my torso, and He who is the refuge of Jambavan protect my navel.
Verse 10
May the Lord of Sugriva protect my waist, and the Lord of Hanuman protect my thighs. May the best of the Raghu dynasty protect my upper thighs, and the destroyer of the demon race protect my lower thighs.
Verse 11
May the builder of the bridge (Rama) protect my knees, and the destroyer of the ten-headed (Ravana) protect my shins. May the bestower of prosperity to Vibhishana protect my feet, and may Rama protect my entire body.
Verse 12
The virtuous person who recites this protection (Stotram), endowed with Rama's strength, will live long, be happy, have progeny, be victorious, and be humble.
Verse 13
Those who wander in the netherworld, on earth, or in the sky, or those who move in disguise, will not even be able to see one who is protected by the names of Rama.
Verse 14
By remembering 'Rama,' 'Ramabhadra,' or 'Ramachandra,' a person is not tainted by sins and attains both worldly enjoyment and liberation.
Verse 15
One who wears around their neck (or keeps in their heart) the name of Rama, which is the sole mantra for conquering the world and provides protection, all accomplishments (siddhis) are within their grasp.

One who remembers this Rama Kavacha, named 'Vajrapanjara' (cage of thunderbolt), will have their commands unobstructed everywhere and attain auspicious victory.

As Lord Shiva (Hara) commanded this Ramaraksha in a dream, so did Budhakoushika write it down in the morning after waking up.

He is a garden of wish-fulfilling trees, the cessation of all calamities, the delight of the three worlds; that glorious Rama is our Lord.

(Meditate on) the two young, handsome, delicate, and mighty ones, whose eyes are wide like lotus petals, who wear garments of bark and deerskin.

They subsist on fruits and roots, are self-controlled, ascetics, and celibates. These two sons of Dasharatha are brothers, Rama and Lakshmana.

They are the refuge of all beings, the best among all archers, the destroyers of the demon race. May these two best of the Raghus protect us.

Rama, the son of Dasharatha, is brave, accompanied by Lakshmana, mighty, a descendant of Kakutstha, the perfect being, Kausalya's son, the best of the Raghus.

He is known through Vedanta, the Lord of sacrifices, the ancient supreme being, the beloved of Janaki (Sita), glorious, and of immeasurable valor.

My devotee who daily chants these names with faith undoubtedly attains merit greater than that of an Ashwamedha sacrifice.

Rama is my mother, Ramachandra is my father. Rama is my master, Ramachandra is my friend. The compassionate Ramachandra is my everything. I know no other, truly I know no other, I know no other.

I bow to the delight of the Raghus (Rama), on whose right is Lakshmana, on whose left is Janaka's daughter (Sita), and in front of whom is Maruti (Hanuman).
