Meaning & Translation

Verse 1
Cleaning the mirror of my mind with the dust of the lotus feet of Sri Guru, I now narrate the sacred glory of Sri Ram Chandra, the best of the Raghus, who bestows the four fruits of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha).
Verse 2
Knowing myself to be devoid of intelligence, I remember you, O Son of Pavan. Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove all my afflictions and impurities.
Verse 3
Victory to Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtues. Victory to the Lord of monkeys, who illuminates the three worlds.
Verse 4
O Messenger of Rama, abode of immeasurable strength. Son of Anjani, known as the Son of Pavan (wind god).
Verse 5
Great hero, valorous like Vajra (thunderbolt). Remover of evil thoughts, companion of good wisdom.
Verse 6
Adorned with golden complexion and beautiful garments. With earrings in ears and curly hair.
Verse 7
In your hands, a thunderbolt and a flag shine. On your shoulder, the sacred thread made of Munja grass is adorned.
Verse 8
Son of Shiva (or incarnation of Shiva), delight of Kesari. Your valor and glory are revered by the whole world.

Learned, virtuous, and very clever. Eager to perform the tasks of Rama.

Fond of listening to the exploits of the Lord. Rama, Lakshman, and Sita dwell in your heart.

Assuming a tiny form, you appeared before Sita. Taking a formidable form, you burnt Lanka.

Assuming a gigantic form, you slew the demons. You accomplished the tasks of Shri Rama.

Bringing the Sanjeevani herb, you revived Lakshman. Lord Rama joyfully embraced you.

Lord Rama praised you highly. 'You are as dear to me as my brother Bharat,' He said.

Thousands of mouths sing your glories. Saying this, Lord Rama embraced you.

Sages like Sanaka, Brahma, and other great ascetics. Narada and Saraswati, along with Sheshnag.

Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of directions, where are they? How can poets and scholars describe your glory?

You rendered a great service to Sugriva. You united him with Rama and got him his kingdom back.

Vibhishan heeded your advice. The whole world knows he became the king of Lanka.

The sun, which is thousands of Yojanas away. You swallowed it, mistaking it for a sweet fruit.

Carrying the Lord's ring in your mouth. Crossing the ocean was no wonder for you.

All the difficult tasks in the world. Become easy by your grace.

You are the guardian at Rama's door. None can enter without your permission.

All joys are found in your refuge. When you are the protector, what is there to fear?
