Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hanuman Path called?

The term 'Hanuman Path' is a general reference to various devotional recitations or prayers dedicated to Lord Hanuman. These can include popular texts like the Hanuman Chalisa, Hanuman Bahuk (both primarily in Awadhi), or powerful Sanskrit Stotrams and Mantras. The Maruti Stotram, composed by Samarth Ramdas, is an excellent example of a Sanskrit 'Path' that devotees recite for strength, courage, and protection.

What is the Sanskrit meaning of 'Hanuman'?

The name 'Hanuman' (हनुमान्) is derived from Sanskrit words 'hanu' (हनु), meaning 'jaw', and 'mān' (मान्), meaning 'having' or 'prominent'. Thus, Hanuman literally means 'one with a prominent or disfigured jaw'. This name is associated with the legend of Indra striking Hanuman on his jaw during his childhood.

What are the benefits of Hanuman Sankalp?

A Sankalp (संकल्प), or a solemn vow/resolve, is a crucial part of any Hindu ritual, including the Hanuman Path. Taking a Sankalp before starting a Hanuman Path or worship helps to clearly define the purpose and intention of the devotee. This focused intention concentrates one's mental and spiritual energy, making the prayer more effective. It enhances devotion, brings clarity to one's spiritual goals, and helps in aligning the devotee's efforts with the divine grace of Lord Hanuman, thereby amplifying the benefits of the recitation.
