Meaning & Translation
Verse 1
Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara! O Lord, Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara! Brahma, Vishnu, and Sadashiva, you hold the consort as half of your body. Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara!
Verse 2
You are adorned with one face, four faces, and five faces. While Brahma rides a swan, Vishnu a Garuda, you are adorned with a bull as your vehicle. Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara!
Verse 3
With two, four, and ten arms, you appear exceedingly beautiful. Beholding your three-fold form (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas), the beings of the three worlds are enchanted. Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara!
Verse 4
You wear white garments, yellow garments, and a tiger skin. Sanaka and others, Garuda and others, and various spirits accompany you. Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara!
Verse 5
In your hands, you hold a Kamandalu (water pot), Chakra (discus), and Trishul (trident). You are the creator, destroyer, and preserver of the universe. Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara!
Verse 6
Brahma, Vishnu, and Sadashiva, though seen distinctly, are unwisely perceived as separate. Within the sacred syllable Om (Pranavakshar), these three are one. Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara!
Verse 7
Lakshmi, Savitri, and Parvati are your consorts. Parvati is your inseparable half, ever with Lord Shiva. Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara!
Verse 8
In Kashi, Lord Vishwanath resides, accompanied by Nandi the celibate. Daily, by His sight, one attains immense glory and blessings. Hail to Lord Shiva, the Omkara!
