Verse 1
From the forest of his matted hair, the holy waters flow down, purifying his neck. Adorning his neck is a long garland of high-raised snakes. With the sound of ḍamaḍ ḍamaḍ ḍamaḍ ḍamaḍ from his drum, Damaru, Shiva performed the fierce Tandava dance. May that Shiva bestow prosperity upon us.
Verse 2
My heart finds joy in every moment in Shiva, whose head is adorned by the Ganga, moving rapidly through his matted hair, with its oscillating waves; and whose forehead bears the blazing fire that burns dhagad dhagad dhagad, and who holds the crescent moon on his head.
Verse 3
May my mind find joy in Shiva, who is the delightful companion of the daughter of the mountain king (Parvati), whose mind rejoices in the multitude of dazzling directions, who can avert insurmountable calamities with a stream of compassionate glances, and who is sometimes naked (Digambara).
Verse 4
May my mind find extraordinary joy in the Lord of beings (Shiva), whose matted hair is adorned by the yellow-red glow of the shining jewel on the hood of a snake, which illuminates the faces of the maidens of the directions as if smeared with saffron; and who wears the splendid skin of a maddened elephant as an upper garment.

May Shiva, whose footrest is greyed by the continuous shower of flower dust from the crowns of all gods starting with Indra (the thousand-eyed), and whose matted locks are tied with a garland of serpent kings, grant us lasting prosperity. He whose head is adorned by the friend of the Chakora bird (the moon).
Verse 6
May the matted hair on Shiva’s head, adorned by the shining rays of the moon, which consumed Kama (the five-arrowed god) with the sparks of the blazing fire on his forehead, and to whom all the chiefs of gods bow down, bestow upon us the wealth of Shiva, the great wielder of the skull.

May my mind be fixed on the Three-eyed one (Shiva), whose fierce forehead strip blazes dhagad dhagad dhagad, and into whose fire the mighty Kama (god with five arrows) was offered; and who is the sole artist in drawing ornamental lines on the tip of the breast of the daughter of the mountain king (Parvati).

May Shiva, whose neck is dark like a dense new cloud covering a moonless night, who holds the celestial river Ganga, whose body is covered with a red glow from the elephant hide, who is the handsome receptacle of arts (moon), and who sustains the burden of the world, bestow prosperity upon us.

I worship Shiva, whose neck, with its cluster of blue lotuses, rivals the dark radiance of a multitude of blooming blue lotuses. He who destroyed Kama (Smara), destroyed the cities (Pura), destroyed worldly existence (Bhava), destroyed the sacrifice (Dakṣa's Makha), tore the elephant demon (Gaja), tore the demon Andhaka, and destroyed Yama (Antaka).

I worship Shiva, who is like a bee buzzing around the sweet nectar flowing from the blossoming Kadamba flowers, which are the glorious and auspicious arts. He who ended Kama (Smara), ended the cities (Pura), ended worldly existence (Bhava), ended the sacrifice (Dakṣa's Makha), ended the elephant demon (Gaja), ended the demon Andhaka, and ended Yama (Antaka).

Victorious is Shiva, whose terrible forehead fire blazes dhagad dhagad, from which sparks emanate, and where snakes roam with immense grace. He performs the fierce Tandava dance in sequence with the auspicious, high-pitched, resonant sound of the Mridanga drum, which sounds dhimiddhimiddhimiddhimi.

When shall I worship Sadashiva, whose mind maintains equanimity towards a stone and a bed of various kinds, a garland of snakes and pearls, the most precious gems and a clod of earth, friends and foes, a blade of grass and a lotus-eyed person, and ordinary people and great emperors?
Verse 13
When shall I reside in a hollow in the grove on the banks of the celestial river Ganga, with my evil thoughts dispelled, always carrying the prayer gesture (anjali) on my head, with my restless eyes fixed on the beautiful forehead of Shiva, chanting the mantra 'Shiva', and thus become truly happy?
Verse 14
A person who daily recites, remembers, and speaks this excellent hymn attains continuous purity. He quickly attains good devotion towards Hari (Vishnu) and his Guru. There is no other way to liberation. Indeed, the contemplation of the benevolent Shankara (Shiva) is the dispeller of delusion for embodied beings.
Verse 15
At the end of the worship, in the evening (Pradosh time), one who recites this song sung by the ten-headed (Ravana), which is dedicated to the worship of Shambhu (Shiva) – to that person, Shambhu always bestows stable wealth, accompanied by chariots, elephants, and horses.
